Volunteer

So you want to volunteer?

We don't have envelopes for you to stuff. Nope, no cold calling either.

Instead, we encourage you to use what you know and who you know to take action in your own community.

We cannot reach our full potential as a global community until we share the responsibility of eradication, and achieve the vision of a world where women and children are safe from slavery. Join our unconventional team of volunteers. This can mean many things, such as:
  • running, biking, or walking for the cause
  • hosting a book club, bake sale, or dinner
  • hosting a screening of PBS documentary Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity Worldwide
  • organizing a campus or workplace presentation

You can do all of these and more — the possibilities are endless. Use your workplace, school, or community as a springboard. You can ask for donations instead of birthday presents, sharing articles or stories online, and even starting the conversation about sex trafficking with your family and friends. You can become an ambassador for the cause and raise support and funds for this life-giving work.

Wondering about volunteering in Southeast Asia?

Somaly Mam Foundation's office in Cambodia is located in Phnom Penh, and our staff includes an advocacy manager, a finance manager, and our Voices For Change leaders. At this time, SMF's volunteer opportunities in Southeast Asia are extremely limited.

If you are visiting Cambodia, we can connect you to our team in Phnom Penh to schedule a meeting with Voices For Change leaders, who can explain their work, and answer questions, and offer more insight into the issue on the ground. Starting in 2013, a presentation and Q&A meeting will be held weekly on Wednesdays at 10am in SMF's Phnom Penh office. Contact us if you'd like to attend.

For AFESIP Laos and Aliance Anti-Trafic Vietnam, please contact their team directly.
