Somaly Mam Foundation is currently seeking interns based in our New York office. All positions are unpaid, and we ask for a commitment of at least 15-20 hours per week.

SMF is currently seeking a Cause Marketing Intern to assist the Senior Director of Communications and the Director of Partnerships and Business Development. This position is unpaid and based in our New York office. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Basic design work: creating flyers, editing images, preparing web content
• Researching and developing innovative ways to promote SMF and raise awareness of human trafficking
• Writing and editorial tasks, including but not limited to drafting and sending press releases, newsletter and promotional material support, and blogging
• Online research, social media support, and community management
• Campaign management, content development and execution
• Event promotion and production: annual gala plus small fundraising events
• Administrative duties, including answering Somaly Mam Foundation telephones, filing and photocopying, accepting express mail packages, assisting with bulk mailings, greeting SMF guests, coordinating maintenance and repair service for the office, running errands, and any other tasks assigned
Qualifications:
• Passionate with a strong commitment to ending sex slavery and human trafficking
• Background in journalism, marketing, advocacy, communications, or a similar relevant field
• Strong research abilities and organizational skills
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
• An eye for good design and clean branding
• Able to work independently and collaboratively, to take initiative, and to build valuable tasks to benefit the organization
• Good sense of humor, able to work in fun environment!
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
• Photoshop, InDesign, Drupal, and basic HTML skills (or the desire to learn) are a plus but not required
• Non-profit experience preferred but not required
SMF is currently seeking a Development Intern to assist the Sr. Director if Development. This position is unpaid and based in our New York office. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Donor database maintenance: updates, upkeep, data reporting
• Assisting the development and marketing team in tracking and evaluating fundraising campaigns
• Identifying prospects based on data in the donor database
• Researching and reporting on fundraising projects
• Supporting the development team as needed
• Administrative duties, including answering Somaly Mam Foundation telephones, filing and photocopying, accepting express mail packages, assisting with bulk mailings, greeting SMF guests, coordinating maintenance and repair service for the office, running errands, and any other tasks assigned

SMF is currently seeking an Editorial Intern to assist the team with writing and editing tasks related to marketing, communications, and development. This position is unpaid and based in our New York office. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Drafting and sending new announcements, newsletters, promotional materials, blogging, and other writing assignments as needed, under the supervision of the Senior Director of Communications and Director of Partnerships
• Strategically developing content to increase engagement and support
• Researching and writing content for SMF platforms and other outlets
• Proofreading and fact checking of SMF documents
• Drafting correspondence for members of the team
• Online research, social media support and community management
• Supporting staff members as needed
• Administrative duties, including answering Somaly Mam Foundation telephones, filing and photocopying, accepting express mail packages, assisting with bulk mailings, greeting SMF guests, coordinating maintenance and repair service for the office, running errands, and any other tasks assigned
